ABOUT
The Asian Screen Institute (ASI) works with partners across Asia and the Middle East to develop and connect the region’s screen industries, collaborating with film commissions, production companies, festivals, studios, education providers, and cultural organisations. ASI supports a wide range of screen activities, from story development and production to industry events and international collaboration.
Working with partners in key hubs such as Singapore, India, the Middle East, and China, ASI helps create opportunities for co-production, cultural exchange, and the growth of Asia’s screen industries.
PRODUCTION
ASI works closely with the screen industries through partnerships with production companies and industry practitioners. These collaborations engage directly with production partners where projects are developed, financed, and brought to screen. The institute also serves as a partner for global production companies exploring opportunities to film in Asia, helping connect international productions with regional talent, resources, and local industry networks, strengthening collaboration across the global screen industries.
DISTRIBUTION
ASI develops strategic relationships across the distribution sector of the screen industries. Through partnerships with distributors, platforms, and international industry stakeholders, ASI supports pathways for content to reach audiences across multiple markets and territories. These collaborations foster international engagement, facilitate cross-border opportunities, and strengthen connections between creators, producers, and the global distribution ecosystem.
DEVELOPMENT
Screen development at ASI is closely integrated with its education programs, supporting the creation and refinement of original stories for the screen. Projects are developed through structured processes that guide ideas from initial concept through to submission-ready material. Within this professional environment, creators engage with experienced industry practitioners while developing screen projects. This approach connects creative development with education, ensuring projects emerging from ASI are prepared for submission in the screen marketplace.
TRAINING
ASI prepares the next generation of screen storytellers through industry-focused, government-accredited training and real production experience. Each student develops and produces their own films as part of the learning process, gaining practical experience in bringing ideas from concept to screen. Working with professional equipment, collaborating in active production environments, and guided by experienced industry practitioners, students build the creative confidence, practical expertise, and industry relationships needed to launch careers in the global screen industries.
CULTURE
ASI develops screen culture by working closely with organisations across the Asia region. Through partnerships with cultural institutions, industry bodies, and creative organisations, ASI supports collaboration, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas across diverse screen communities. In collaboration with its partners, ASI also creates cultural events, screenings, and industry gatherings that bring together creators, audiences, and industry professionals. These initiatives strengthen regional creative networks, encourage the growth of storytelling, and foster deeper engagement with the screen industries across Asia.
